Re: Waxing new skis, Hotbox

I'm always hesitant to hotbox my skis. Even as a race coach in the 80's, I never did it for my athletes. Back then, I'd run a profiler over the bases, iron the stuff in, scrape, brush and buff. Must have worked, since when I coached the Univ. Ca. Davis team, we had 5 league championships consecutive...

Re: LilCliffy's Nordic Backcountry Touring Waxing

I'm VERY much appreciating your experience and results on waxing! And yes, absolutely, your first observation that wax application info is from a racing point. As a former elite and coach, yeah, this is pretty much the main topic in that world. I'm also interested in what you think of your Combat N...

Re: XCD skis for 250lb Clydesdale?

I'm at your weight as well, and find that my S-Bound 98's (189cm) work fine for our type of snow here. The scuttlebutt is, that there's another shipment from Fischer "supposedly" arriving pretty soon, but 'yasureyoubetcha" comes to mind real quick. However, as a comparison, once the new Alpina Explo...

Re: Newbie wax and snow question

I was thinking the wax might have been just a little too much on the one ski in the photo, given those conditions. Wax just a little less next time and see if it makes a difference. And good hunting! I should stir my stumps and take the S-Bounds out for that myself!! Our snow's boiler plate after a ...

Re: Pictures, pictures and pictures!

OK, I tried, but nothing works, so just trust me---I'm tired of shovelling snow, running the snowblower, putting gas in the snowblower, and popping LOTS of advil, The cognac, I don't mind at all, but the old muscles are really screaming now, after 5 straight days of 3-4 hours of the above. And true ...

NPR says he died of natural causes. All in all, should never have happened, no matter what.

Saying "hi"

first time user from central WA, where our "state flower" is a can of Rustoleum spray paint. At 73. I've logged over 70 years of skiing, both Alpine & Nordic, but not a lot of tele skiing. I "can" tele, but since I was a serious racer (biathlon), almost all of my Nordic skiing is in track stuff. So ...
