Did not regret going XCD over splitboard or AT this year!
I am a longtime snowboarder who was looking to get out in the remote areas of New England. I always considered buying a splitboard but the cost was a lot, and I get a lot of lift service in. Finding this page and the XCD approach made for one of the best winters I have had in a long time despite iff...

Re: Waxless on Ski Resort Trails?
I have been a fiend for this kind of stuff lately. I am mainly a snowboarder and used to alpine ski, but lightweight gear adds a nice balance challenge. I got some Sbound 98 and beefy transnordic boots and have been absolutely loving resort runs as a way to tune up my downhill skills. This set up fe...

Re: Best NNN touring boot
I am far from an expert on this stuff but I have been loving the Fischer Transnordic BCX on my NNN set up. I find them super comfortable for flat and rolling terrain, and they especially shine on downhills with all the support they provide.

Re: Building an NNN-BC "downhill" setup?
Good luck in your gear endeavors! I just got some Transnordic NNN BC boots matched with a S-Bound 98 and loving it. I do not find the boots difficult to kick and glide and they are actually more comfortable than the alpina montana's I had. Seems like a versatile set up. I may transition away from NN...

Anyone ever try ankle guards/support inside their nordic/BC boots?
I am going to give it a shot for some extra padding and support. I have some Alpina Montana NNNBC boots that are supportive enough for what I do, but a little extra support sounds nice, maybe a sock-type insert used in soccer/etc. Bad idea? Possibly. Better to just buy some stiffer boots? Oh yeah bu...

Re: Are my undersized 165/65 width Positracks a good fit for my style?
Thanks very much for your response....helps confirm that I am getting very little glide as I don't have much experience with this type of gear. I am going to go with some Fischer 88s in 179 that I think will give me much more versatility. Maybe upgrade to 3 pin in the future but NNN BC is working go...

Are my undersized 165/65 width Positracks a good fit for my style?
Hi, This is my first season skiing on nordics. I was lucky to get a gift of some Rosignol Positrack metal edge BC 165 length, 65 width, with NNN BC bindings and Alpina Montana boots. I'm usually a snowboarder but loving the appeal of the planks. I am about 145 lbs, and the recommended length for me ...
