Re: Xplore & the advantages of stiff stole for XC

Hi everyone! I just saw Toms wonderful Test: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zFNbKu6VqPo Now, since I am very happy about his measurements. And I hope, he will continue. He found out, that the heel of his Alfa Leather Boot was lifted 8 Inches to apply 1000g of pressure on the ski tip with the standa...

Re: Restricted range of motion w/ meidjos

I allways wanted to know what's the advantage of having your knee at or close to your ski?

Cheers

Re: Current solutions for old snow rough and icy XCD

If you realy have hard packed snow all the way, you do not need length. A short, light old funcarving ski (like Atomic 9-11 or blizzard shark and the like second hand) with the Rottefella Xplore is the way I went. And I am happy. The cheap 150 cm short old ski is soft enough to bent trough so you ge...

Re: Alfa FREE A/P/S GTX XPLORE Boot Review 2022

The Alfa Free sounds like the perfect boot for me to finally ditch the Excursions and return to the lightweight and soul surf telemark style of leather boots! But alas... My feet are not as extreme as yours, but wide at the same spots. The Free is definitely narrower and wil flex on the wrong spot ...

Re: S-bound 98? Falketind62? Rab 68? Other Skis?

Hello, this thread has gone towards a very interesting direction! Thank you all for contributing! Now, I can give you a short update of how I got on. During Christmas time I was lucky to stay in Myrkdalen which is an hours drive from Asnes headquarter at Voss, Norway. I had the chance to make a very...

Re: S-bound 98? Falketind62? Rab 68? Other Skis?

Yes Fisheater, the skimo opens a whole new window. But as you say: They ARE short, mostly 160 - 162, the long ones (!) and pricey  BUT I guess they ARE stiff :) maybe thats why they are so short. Probably 160 is the longest loadable edge you can achieve - without adding too much beef that wou...

Re: S-bound 98? Falketind62? Rab 68? Other Skis?

All very helpful contributions! Thanks, I cannot comment everything but I am reading every word - twice at least!

Especially the description of how the ski handles the verious situations. Or would one have to say "feetles" ? ;)

Re: S-bound 98? Falketind62? Rab 68? Other Skis?

I still don’t ski in your boots, and the is still a bunch of 70’s mm underfoot alpine touring skis that may be best for you. Good luck Good Idea! Never thought of that since I did not know these existed! For AT 80 mm underfoot are ususally already considered "skinny". Which skies exactly do you hav...

Re: S-bound 98? Falketind62? Rab 68? Other Skis?

Thanks again to all! We are getting closer. II will check out the skis listed! They seem long to me :? @ jyw5: How did you get your montaineering boot fixed on that Sbound 112? Kickturns @ 175 cm Skis how tall are you? Thats for granted: I also take it that anyone attempting to use the ski setup thi...
