Re: The Alberta XCD thread
I am located in Canmore. Long been into classic XC skiing on all the great groomed trails in the area, but just got my first set of BC XC skiis and boots last year so I am pretty new to this. We have our local spot we go here to "noodle around", but looking to get out an explore more of this part of...

Re: What do I need to start waxing?
For nordic skiing with waxable skis for years I simply just applied grip wax based on the temperature (I usually kept 2-4 colours of wax around), rubbed it in with cork, and scraped it off when I needed to change wax type. Also about once a year I applied a liquid glide wax to the glide zones. Thats...

Re: Pictures, pictures and pictures!
Wow! Is that manmade snow that they plowed into position or scraped up snow from a light snowfall? I am imagining the first... Thank you for sharing this is exciting. Do you guys need American immigrants to do dirty low paying jobs in exchange for October skiing? It is actually what they call "snow...

Re: Pictures, pictures and pictures!
Not really telemark skiing but I had my first day today of nordic skiing for the season in Canmore, AB. Tried out my new Rossignol BC 80s and Alpina Wyoming boots. It was my first time skiing on fish scales or on a nordic ski with a metal edge. I have to say I am happy so far and looking forward to ...

Re: Installing my own NNN BC Bindings but missing a part?
This is a great discussion. It might be the most complete guide to mounting NNN BC ski bindings that exists on the internet. Thank you to everyone who contributed, I think it will provide me with the confidence and techniques to figure this out.

Re: Installing my own NNN BC Bindings but missing a part?
Ahh, for leashes! That makes sense. I didn’t know leashes were even a thing for these skiis so I think it will be fine to leave them out. And regarding the ski install, I’m understanding that you should drill the first hole in the front and loosely install the screw and then clamp the bindings down ...

Installing my own NNN BC Bindings but missing a part?
I just received my Rottefella Magnum NNN BC manual bindings and skiis in the mail (Rossignol BC 80). I'm going to attempt to install my bindings myself using the included paper pattern (stop me if this is a bad idea) and it will be my first time installing any ski binding, so I am trying to make sur...

Re: Alpina Wyoming Boots - Any Experience
I'm no leather expert so I honestly cant determine if it is suede or full grain. Some descriptions say full grain, however the red leather appears to be a bit rough so I assume it is suede. I ended up getting the Nikwax "Waterproofing wax for leather" cream in a tube. I also have the liquid "conditi...

Re: Alpina Wyoming Boots - Any Experience
Reviews of it showed a lot of unhappy customers with wet feet. So it probably needs a good leather treatment procedure. Just curious where you may have found these reviews? I spent a while searching and only found a few short reviews that didnt give a lot of info. And good tip about the leather tre...

Re: Alpina Wyoming Boots - Any Experience
I'm going to be unfortunately brief as I am in haste, but to get you going: Compared to the Alaska: The Wyoming does not have the Alpitex waterproof/"breathable" membrane. It has a lower cuff and is less supportive. It has a softer flex in the sole. Fit is very similar to Alaska. It's a straightfor...
