Re: The TT Mountain Bike thread

Sunday, Rider.Steve and I, nabbed a guys day out while our better four fifths were doing other things. We went to Great Brook Farm, a state park in Carlisle, MA.It is not a 'core sort of place but it has wonderfully mellow riding with a few surprise challenges. Some trails were laid out by NEMBA. Gr...

Re: A fall into King Ravine, NH

LJ, King Ravine offers a lot of steep and interesting lines. The day in question was a borderline good day in KR, but the kid made a lot of sequential bad calls before he got up to the site where his fall started. 3 hours earlier and the plate ice would not have been there for him to shear off. The ...

Re: A fall into King Ravine, NH

The kid is the problem.

He took his tale to TGR and the mags spotted numerous holes in his veracity...

Be warned, in addition to packing heat, the kid is talking himself into corners all over the webz. Lord help us if he comes out shooting.

Re: A mixed bag in Gulf of Slides - 19APR2014

Being old and mostly in the way, I'm not all that fast. 7:47AM Start (from the foot of the Sherby, cross the first bridge, bang a Left in another 30 feet and then bear right where the Avalanche Brook Ski Trail goes Left) 11:50AM to high point of 4950'. We stopped for about 15 minutes for a little bl...

Re: A mixed bag in Gulf of Slides - 19APR2014

Hmmm. That looks like "hey, I did it" skiing. Where all the individual parts are horrible (climbing is always horrible...) but the overall experience is positive because "Hey, I did it". Backpacking also goes in that cathegory, most of the time you are tired, wet, cold (or hot and thirsty) but afte...

Re: A mixed bag in Gulf of Slides - 19APR2014

Sure, there's plenty of snow in GOS, the big deal will be getting to it. The GOSST will be all wet mud for the first .5 mile, and nearly as bad as that below 3300'. Graham Link from the Sherby will serve, but there is deep water in the first 60 meters off the Sherby. I'd consider taking the Boott Sp...

Re: Cardigan - 06APR2014

Not having funds for a drone and GoPro, I take shots of other folks.... Besides, the first 30 or so turns on the just remounted Crossbows were nothing anybody would like to see anyway. I will admit that before the first run was done, I was enjoying snappy, quick turns. A few more hours on the 'bows ...

Cardigan - 06APR2014

Cardigan cover is excellent! It should be good on the main trails for more than a week. Watch it off line, rotten snow is all over the place. Dukes was good Sunday noonish, a little scratcy in the shade. We tracked the Alleyway, switching leads in rotting snow.. Alexandria Trail was pretty sweet! To...
