Re: XCD skis on hardpack at the resort

This website (where I got my red flexors a couple years ago) says there's one pair left in stock: https://www.akers-ski.com/product/32NF.html?srsltid=AfmBOoqNHRiRSp1R-ML2vMOKFac_tOsTxoVJYCt0HtQzFZEWKMMtOo3z Just make sure to select the hard red flexor from the drop down menu because the link will pr...

Re: Light gear does a good telemarker make?

I agree with what’s been said already, but I’ll add my personal take anyway, for what it’s worth: I can say I’ve benefited from skiing a range of setups. I think the skinny stuff helps you develop feel, finesse, and lightness on your feet, while the heavier gear gives the power, stability, and confi...

Re: How should I try tele?

Hi Staccato, and welcome to the unexpectedly immersive world of tele you’re about to be blindsided by. Are you planning on skiing lift-served or touring the backcountry? Also, if you feel comfortable mentioning your height/weight or shoe size, people might be able to link some gear or know if they h...

Re: Solo Skiing

When you're an outsider, even when you agree with them, you're still wrong Ain’t that the truth. I, for one, am glad you made your way back over here where your input is valued, Al. They seem to like to control everyone’s skiing/thinking on that forum: gear, technique, politics, music, clothing, yo...

Re: Fischer Twin Skin Pro Track Ski

Bummer about the arthritis, but skiing alongside Julie more sounds like a great trade-off. I’m always flattered to hear that you both enjoy my videos.

Re: Fischer Twin Skin Pro Track Ski

Hi Tom, I noticed you didn’t mention your skate skis in your quiver video. Is that because they’re fossils nobody would find in a store anymore, or because you won’t be skate skiing, or because they’re kind of a different animal than the rest of the quiver?

Re: Pictures, pictures and pictures!

Nothing overachieves quite like moisture on NW winds around here. Snow unexpectedly arrived last night all the way down to the valley.

Re: Telemark-specific ski models

Regarding Harvest Skis, it’s really just a guy who makes skis. I think he’s decided to downsize or something because his skis used to retail in the Steamboat Springs area, but as of last spring, he sold his inventory and is now just taking custom orders. As far as I’m aware, waxless/patterned/scaled...

Re: Telemark-specific ski models

They recently started doing custom orders only, but Harvest Skis out of the Steamboat Springs area makes waxless downhill skis.

Re: Voilé and Kästle selling XCD in North America

Yeah, not the same bases, but the same notable scale shape (resembles crowns as opposed to fish scales) that Fischer uses. I doubt this is a terribly exciting development, but it might explain how Kästle can get away with using the “crown” term in their description, and perhaps it does mean a bit of...
