Re: Learning Telemark on Scaled Skis

I would just get some old school downhill oriented tele skis, the kind with 65-80mm waists and lots of sidecut, some heavier duty 75mm bindings like the voile hardwires or 22 designs axl, a binding with a more "active" feel for more powerful tele turns, and keep using your excursions. The combinati...

Re: Learning Telemark on Scaled Skis

Thanks guys!! A lot to consider there. I think because I have no downhill tele skis at all, I'll just buy something that is downhill oriented (as opposed to XC) and isn't too weird. May not be the correct most bestest thing, but I'm sure it will do fine as long as those boots fit well and the setup ...

Re: Learning Telemark on Scaled Skis

Thanks very much you guys for all of the advice. Very interesting. It sounds like some have had a quicker time learning on the beefier NTN setup but others recommend trying something more 3 pin with skinnier skis. In my mind, I had sort of already decided that learning tele on a more stiff boot and ...

Re: Learning Telemark on Scaled Skis

thanks very much for the response. I am considering the summit cone vagabond BC 97. I could just forget scales and go for the summit cone outcast 97c. Just looking for something that will be good to learn on. I have used mostly scaled skis in the past but maybe I should just forget it and go smooth ...

Learning Telemark on Scaled Skis

Hello Tele-World! Hope you all are getting pumped. I certainly am. I have a quick question here for the experienced tele skiers that might have a minute to answer. I am committed to taking tele lessons this year and really making some progress. I have been mostly goofing around on nordic cambered sk...

Re: Ski Review: 2018-2019 Fischer Traverse 78

When on skinnies go as long as you think you can take then go longer. The RIDE is worth it and keeps you up in the deeps. TM Thanks for the reply. An example of ski length I am considering would be the Fischer Traverse 78 in 189 cm. The manufacturers suggested weight range for that ski is 70 - 90 k...

Re: Ski Review: 2018-2019 Fischer Traverse 78

Hi Manney, Your time and response were greatly appreciated. I will look for a local shop to get fitted. I was not familiar with x-prize and had to look it up. I am guessing your point there was not to reinvent the wheel and keep it simple? I appreciate you mentioning the binding consideration. I hav...

Re: Ski Review: 2018-2019 Fischer Traverse 78

Hello All, Quite the illuminating thread here. I am working on graduating from having a bunch of cheap weird BC XC skis that aren’t the right size for me to just having one solid pair that is correctly sized for me and the right ski for the terrain I am in. You guys are all a treasure trove of insig...
