Re: Long skis. Short Car.
I don't know much about commercially available roof boxes, but I do know that plumbers and electricians often have a long section of pvc pipe bolted to their roof racks. You can certainly find one of sufficient diameter and length to hold a pair of skis. Front end with a glued on cap, rear with a th...

Re: Getting down
In regards to the Tele-turn, repetition helps. Some time at the lifts would help immensely. While the E-99 reportedly turns well for a double cambered ski, it’s a double cambered ski. I spent a little time on an ancient model, which was kind of soft, and I could make some Tele-turns, it was still a...

Re: Getting down
I find the Alaska is a little soft for pushing my Falketind very hard. (Under this maneuver the Rabb and FT62 would be pretty much the same.) It can be done but mostly I find it is nearly impossible to keep the plow very symmetric so it results in more floundering than I'd like. I've just purchased...

Re: Getting down
I’m 190 lbs. + I have a 196 cm Falketind. It turns well, it kicks well. If your heart is set on the Rabb, go for it. I just know from my experience that a 196 cm Falketind would work. I also had looked at the Falketind. Good to know from someone's experience that it can apply well to my use case. T...

Getting down
Hey folks, passionate, but very mediocre skier here looking for some input. I love to ski the forested and sometimes semi groomed, but not track set trails around the St-Donat area in Quebec. Groomed as in they drive a snowmobile through once in a while to widen things after heavy snowfall. I do gre...

I don't have anything useful to add to this, but I really enjoyed reading the detailed comparison. Thanks for taking the time to write it!

Re: Old voile springs, sole separation leathers, edge rust
Hi, speaking only as a lover of leather boots (hiking, work type) I would say an extra secure way of reattaching your heel would be to have a cobbler use "clinch" nails. These are soft nails driven up through the heel into the boot. Due to their soft nature when they hit the wooden last used to hold...

Re: Question on Transnordic 66
Hi, I believe the crown designation means that ski has a fish-scale wax less base. There is a non-crown version that uses kick-wax.
The "easy skin" is an accessory short skin, that you can add for extra grip in "klister" type conditions or for more grip on step and continuous climbs.
Happy skiing

Re: E-109 vs E-99
Very good insights guys. Thank you. Easier to turn would certainly be a good thing! I will also check out that Facebook group.

Re: E-109 vs E-99
Having said that, when there's a modest amount of fresh snow on the ground, say 2-8", the E-109 will give a bunch more float than the E-99, and it should be easier to turn as well. A boot like the BCX-10 should be plenty for skis around 80mm at the tip and 60mm underfoot, whether it's the Fischer E...
