Re: binding placement experiment

Guschti, the guy who designed the plates, had bindings for steeper skiing and resort skiing in mind. At the time he designed them, the Xplore wasn’t existing yet. It would be a good thing to have a plate for lower angle skiing bindings. On the other hand, they add a little weight to your lightweight...

Re: binding placement experiment

There is a way to mount almost every telemark binding onto one pair of skis:

Re: New Super Tele's and full thickness soles?

Forgot to mention: These are my girlfriend’s bindings. She skis them with Excursions MP26.

Re: New Super Tele's and full thickness soles?

Ski Marchs in EU44. I can close the bail to the middle position, too. If folks here use both, Ski Marchs and Alaskas, they could give you information about sole thickness. The ST with cables are an awesome binding!

Re: F1 duck butt

Hey John,
Nice boot! First generation F.1. The Transit will fit. If the boot still feels not soft enough, I recommend replacing the heel lever. You can use a Voilé strap as a top buckle.
I ski in walk mode all the time in TTS and Transit in position 1.

Re: What to mount on Voile V6

https://earnyourturns.com/34683/telemark-binding-mounting-patterns/ Since you‘ve already got two pairs of 75mm boots and you can drill the 4hole pattern the switchbacks needs, you can easily go that way. The boots may (hopefully!) be better on your knees. On the other hand Switchbacks aren’t releasa...

Re: Do I need a heel piece for a 3-pin binding?

You don’t really need a heel piece, I think. Voilé and Rottefella 3pin heel pieces for example don’t give any support sideways. I wouldn’t be worried about the 3pin holes. What supports your boot sideways depends on the duckbill sitting in the toe cage. A snug fit will give good support. There’s ano...

Re: Comparing an XCD ski and a skinny downhill ski of similar width with leather boots on firm groomed snow.

The Dynastar Assault Vertical is a 1992 moguls ski. I called it an 80s ski in an earlier post because of how it looks and how it’s built. I found it completely new and unused two years ago. It is built like some of the 80s/early 90s skis were built: There is no wood inside this construction. It’s a ...

Re: Comparing an XCD ski and a skinny downhill ski of similar width with leather boots on firm groomed snow.

I definitely hit the jackpot the day I tried telemark skiing. Sorry for my not so good English. I’ll try my best. My telemark career went from alpine skiing to „heavy telemark“ in the resort twelve years ago. Then to the backcountry and further on to skiing over rolling terrain on lighter XCD equipm...
