Re: Biological Annihilation
Great read! I've been thinking and saying this for years - the audacity of people that think they understand and can fiddle with these systems as they see fit and believe they are above the world (Earth) that brought us up will be our demise.

Whoops! Peeled my ski a bit
I have done a few backcountry rounds, mostly not used roads, but I managed to get a few tele turns down some shallower slopes between the trees :) Today I fell (more like stopped by putting my rear down because I wasn't sure if I was going to make it) and I believe that's where this happened. The ed...

Re: Pictures, pictures and pictures!
Previous weekend I've done my first off track hike (did some technique training if you could call it that a few times to get the hang of it). Went alone, caught up to a few guys and we went together for a bit; their target was a local hill top and I didn't want to go too far so I returned alone. Had...

Re: Alpina Alaska Boot Treatment
I have been out with my pair a couple of times now. Every time I am done the leather at the tongue (? the part that covers your shin) seems to be cracking or is just super dry? It happens where the laces go over it - am I tightening it too much? The laces appear to pull water (and this cream) out of...

Re: Beginner XCD ski choice
I have taken pictures and will save them. I found the document that describes the warranty stuff but don't feel like reading it today :D I will get some epoxy and do as you say - seems like a reasonable approach. I'd love to see how you manage the extra material with smaller feet, yes. I went to the...

Re: Beginner XCD ski choice
Got the skis! Going out tomorrow morning to try them :) Maybe I am too much of a perfectionist, but should I be worried about this? I saw a post of someone's ski splitting from the edge a while ago. Re: Beginner XCD ski choice
I have treated my boots with HydroBloc (first time ever treating leather). I think it turned out pretty well - only thing I don't like too much is the spot under where laces go on the right boot; the leather didn't darken too much there (see picture). I used a sponge and a soft brush on the first bo...

Re: Alpina Alaska Boot Treatment
Ah, I'll leave them to soak well then. What I was asking is how do I know when I have used enough cream? Does it stop being absorbed by the leather? Then wait a few minutes and rub the excess off with a towel?

Re: Alpina Alaska Boot Treatment
I put my boots in towels and am waiting for them to soak - how do I know how much HydroBloc to put on? Any indications or something I should be aware of?

Re: Beginner XCD ski choice
The boots are here! I ordered some HydroBloc as a lot of you have suggested. If I understand correctly I should let the boots sit in wet towels for the leather to absorb some water and then rub the HydroBloc in? Also which way are these "folds" supposed to go? Like they are on the inner or on the ou...
