Re: Permanent Glide Wax?
I tried it on my Voile Objective BC's. I don't mind waxing, but hot waxing scales is a pain so I thought this would be a time saver. While Phantom may work OK for flat bases at the resort, it's not good for scales in the backcountry. Phantom leaves the bases with more stiction than wax. At the resor...

Re: Skiing Bigger Descents in the XCD Style
good-answer.gif That's not what I was expecting :D Edit: you probably know this already given you're looking to upgrade your Madshus, but there's a difference between skinny and soft. I still pull out my oid Tuas once or twice a year. They're only 70mm underfoot at most, and light, but they're surp...

Re: Skiing Bigger Descents in the XCD Style
JackO , I'm curious why skiing in the XCD style requires a ski in the Asnes/Madshus/Fischer category, or 3 pins for that matter. If the objective is to do kick-and-glide, fast transitions, and telemark turns on the down, the Objective BC (which you have) does everything those skis from the other br...

Re: Making 3d printed parts
The TR2 toe has always released when I needed it to, but in a TTS setup it will also pre-release in some circumstances if you ski hard. It's an unfortunate side effect of the real heel connection and lack of torsional rigidity in the hardwire spring setup. A 2nd heel connection or a stiffer frame be...

Re: Making 3d printed parts
Is that an NNNBC with cables? Since NNNBC boots don’t generally come with cable compatible boots, how do you modify the heel to accept a heel-throw? TTS. I use Trab TR2 toes on my heavier skis for DIN releasability, and Trab Gara Titan toes on my lightweight rigs. PXL_20230309_061607443.jpg PXL_202...

Re: Making 3d printed parts
I don't post much here, but I 3D print my TTS pivot blocks and crampon brackets out of aluminum, and my heel pads, heel throws, bellows guards, and various other small parts out of nylon. I've posted about these projects in more detail on BC Talk.

Re: New Intuition Liners for a T4
I use the Pro Tour in my F1's. It's taller than the Logan, so maybe a little tall for the T4, but shorter than the TXP liner.

Re: the Nordic Ice Skating Thread
@mca80 that looks about where I've mounted mine. My thought was that you want the toe a bit further back with a free heel than fixed, so boot center behind the center of the blade. That seems to work well. But I only have one pair with one mount, so I have nothing to compare against.

Re: the Nordic Ice Skating Thread
The 75mm binding on Zandstra's above looks like a good setup to me. I have a have a TTS-style binding on mine that I use with F3 or F1 boots. I got the 48mm blade but IMO it's a bit too long as I sometimes bump the blades during crossover turns. Nordic blades aren't really meant for sharp turns anyw...

Re: DEEP Snow Touring Ski
If I were you, I would (and do) ski the Objectives in powder, assuming the avy conditions are not too risky, as mentioned above. They're not great pow skis for sure, but better than sitting at home watching the snow fall. 30 years ago, 82 underfoot was considered a powder ski. It's not like it becam...
