Re: Xplore Roller skiing bindings broken

Thanks for sharing. I thought the Xplore construction was stronger as it has a steel internal structure, but should know from prior information that ski bindings break. I have no inside information on Xplore construction and has only observed the binding from outside. I am wary of roller ski bindin...

Re: Xplore Roller skiing bindings broken

That’s pretty interesting, and starts to answer the question about how durable the binding is, and how much force can be applied to it in different use-case scenarios people have mentioned (modified for use with cables, AT boots, etc.). Are you saying the bindings you recently saw in-store are diff...

Xplore Roller skiing bindings broken

I've had these bindings for about two year and put a lot of miles on them. Both bindings failed in the same way within two days. I do about 75% classic and about 25% skate on those roller skis. And I had also use the bindings in the winter for classics snow skiing. I went to get some replacement bin...

What's wrong with kick and glide in high wind?
I've run into side wind conditions in the Alaska range that are virtually unskiable, but you're right a lot of the time the answer is to just deal with it.

Kick and Glide in High Wind

Does anyone have any tips for dealing with high wind conditions during a multi-day tour? One thought would be to bring ultra lightweight snowshoes and switch to them in high wind. But I really don't like the idea on aesthetic grounds.

Re: removing ezskins on the fly

The EZ Skin lock is the trouble spot.. You don't need the lock to hold the skins in place. Just threading the skin through the slot it enough friction to keep the skin in place. I've skied thoughts of miles without the lock and never had the skin come loose. Just cut off the lock. It will be fine.

I know I just changed my mind, I got the 190 e99 and I thought they were to flexible so they went back to the shop and I am planning to order the 190cm gamme instead even in might tune them with a bit of tape :D
I don't know... Gammes feels more flexible to me.

Re: Unapologetic love note to the Fischer E99 (now Transnordic 66)

This is a really cool approach Lars- I don't use kicker skins very much for my day-to-day touring, but have thought many times that I would like to be able to shift the bunding fore/aft on the fly. What boot are you using with this bindnign and the E99-XL/TN66-XL. Have you teied the TN66 yet? Garet...

Re: Unapologetic love note to the Fischer E99 (now Transnordic 66)

Both are set up with kick skins and NIS Auto touring bindings. The e99s weigh 3.0 lbs each and the Transnordic 66s weigh 2.7 lbs each. Both sets are 210mm long and identical widths. Thanks for this-- Thread drift-- what are your thoughts between the NIS Auto vs the Xcelerator, which is slightly lig...

Re: Unapologetic love note to the Fischer E99 (now Transnordic 66)

I am not sure that is true. I picked up a pair of the 66's for my trip to Nome in a few months and while the dimensions are the same, they are maybe 15% lighter than my e99s. I haven't skied with them yet, so I am not sure what other differences there might be, but they are not exactly the same as ...
