Re: Old Ski Info

Mid 1900's alpine skis is all I can say confidently. 50's, maybe 40's vintage. I remember the St. Moritz brand skis. Thank you. The best guess I could come up with from the very limited things I found from google searching was early to mid 60s. The base on one pair looks like it has never been skie...

Old Ski Info

I have 2 pair of fairly old skis. They were in the rafters of the garage when I bought this house several years ago. I do plan on cleaning them up at some point if even just for decoration. Any and all info would be much appreciated. IMG_5926.JPG IMG_5934.JPG IMG_5927.JPG IMG_5928.JPG IMG_5929.JPG I...

Re: Help deciding on new skis

I have changed my mind on the 179 and have decided to go with the 189 which is what their sizing chart calls for. This deciding thing with limited experience isn't easy lol

With a big snow storm coming today it looks like I am going to finally be getting out :)

Re: NNN-BC choice: when are Magnums a real advantage?

The boot-binding interface is identical between all of the NNNBC bindings. There is no difference in skiing performance between any of them. The Magnum's wider manual lever makes them easier to get in/out of the binding. In my local climate I have seen fellow skiers have significant trouble with th...

Re: Help deciding on new skis

I believe I have decided on the 88's . My local shop is ordering a pair in for me with their order this fall. I am tempted to go with the 179 size even thought I am over weight for them based on their chart. Am I wrong thinking the shorter size will allow better turning ? and I was also thinking it...

Re: The winter of my discontent

Wow the ski shortage is tightening! Anyone know where to find Fischer Excursion 88s in both 169 cm and 186? We have been looking for weeks in both Europe and North America, no luck. I was at my local outfitter "Never Summer Mtn. Products" today. They had the Transnordic 68 and said they were expect...

You think you need a skin for climbing if you aren't doing downhill?
Yes . I already am going down some decent downhill on these 68 . Certainly more then these skis are made for. But could use some extra traction going up them . Especially hauling gear.

Re: Help deciding on new skis

Hey there , I am quite heavy at 220lbs and only 5 10". Even still I have a hard time getting the scales on these 68 in 190cm to bite going up hill. Especially in cold icy or dry conditions. I did get to try a pair of OAC skin based skis and found the grip for climbing much better . I would like to g...
