Re: Leather Boot Reviews
Thanks My friend has the new pros and likes them too. I might have to get steel or composite toes, but if not, I will take a look at both pairs!

Re: Leather Boot Reviews
However on the flipside / descent they have very little sole stiffness. This may be somewhat of a limiting factor for it's ability to drive a ski. I don't really know. Sole flex is a delicate balance- especially when it comes to NN-75mm. As you notice, the degree of stiffness in a sole's flex does ...

Re: Kick Skins over Kick Wax
It's been weirdly warm here, so I've been using red/silver quite often...I was nervous about putting skins over top based on this post, even after I scraped the wax off (since there is often still some wax residue). I can now confirm that you can first scrape red/silver off the base in the field tho...

Yes, ventilation seems to be an issue with pertex/pile, at least for skiing.
The extreme smock is indeed very extreme! I usually only use it at -20C or colder. It is also more suited to less dynamic activities like camp chores or even very cold weather hiking.

Re: Cold Clothing
Woods, Leo, Just before going into the polycotton or Ventile (100% cotton)...I also endorse the mesh liners. I have the polyproylene and the wool versions from Aclima, great great stuff. Woods, about polycotton in warm weather, you are right. But I live north of you and we frequently ski on cold sn...

Re: breathable shell jacket? is there one that lets sweat out but keeps you dry
Waterproof/breathable membranes seem to be a marketing gimmick: https://andrewskurka.com/backpacking-clothing-rain-jacket-rain-pants/ You will either choose waterproof or breathable, but not both. In the winter, a wool outer layer works great because of its breathability. Al, I have also heard good ...

Re: right or wrong way to handle climbing skins
I recently got skins that came with skin savers, and I noticed that they don't adhere to the skin savers at all really. Could it be that the skins just don't stick to them very much?

Haha Wood, that is correct. Carhartt is great, army surplus wool always cheap and reliable. Just got some surplus wool gloves to replace my holy pair.

Re: Pulk Options
I've used the Aiguille pulks (previously known as something else) on a 50-day expedition https://living-laponia.tumblr.com/ If you want ot get cheap and DIY, I would recommend you start with a Paris Pro Expedition Pulk and read up on the various mods online. https://www.homehardware.ca/en/60-expedi...

Pulk Options
The amount of pulk options out there is fairly overwhelming. I'm curious about the DIY options out there, as well as pulks that you bought (especially in Canada). I believe Polar Supplies is an Ottawa-based company that sells Aiguille pulks. Any other Canadian companies you are aware of? I'd like to...
