Re: S-bound 98 and Nansen vs. Rabb 68
I know this isn't the early morning spring conditions you're talking about, but I feel the s-bound 98s are so great at turning that it's worth it to struggle through the slightly less ideal conditions when its a little colder to get to this. This is BC-NNN setup with Alpina Alaskas. Apologies for m...

Re: XC(D?) skis for a big man
My absolute favorite is the Asnes Kongsvold. For me it's great for kicking and gliding and pretty easy to turn. Under the right conditions or technique it's possible to do parallel turns. With no metal edge probably wouldn't be great when it gets icy. RabbitEars Interesting take on the Kongsvold th...

Re: XC(D?) skis for a big man
Areyoutele It feels like this is the kind of question I asked myself a couple of years ago and I kind of gave up on chasing that elusive skis. Sorry if I kind of burst your bubble ;) I am just about the same height and weight as you and I have many Asnes skis so I think i can be of some help... I h...

Re: Canadian Ski Marathon - 2024 edition
Martin, wishing you the best in the Marathon! May your skis grip on the kick, and slide on the glide. May your edges be enough on the turns, and your downhill speed just a little faster than you planned while staying right side up! If you manage photos, that will be great! I sure hope we get a repo...

Re: Canadian Ski Marathon - 2024 edition
Martin, aren’t you going to be skiing harder to Telemark skis this year??? Not that I think you needed to mention the turn to post about this event! I hope Mother Nature treated you well this season! I look forward to reading about this event. That includes your preparation, any news you can post d...

Re: Where to buy Asnes mountain race?
Also I wonder just what is up with all the voodoo talk about the various versions of Asnes mid-width skis and their magic? It seems like there is cult worship about what they do in various subtley different snow conditions. To say the least it ends up being a bit confusing. I think some models are ...

Re: Asnes Rabb 68 over the Voile Objective BC w/Xplore
I skied the Objectives with the Ski March and they were lots of fun on deep snow. I did not keep them as they were unfortunately too short Interesting. Trying to reconcile these two thoughts. What was the basis for rejecting the skis because they were too short? I edited my post to keep in line wit...

Re: Asnes Rabb 68 over the Voile Objective BC w/Xplore
Between the two skis, which one would be better for skiing on firm snow in leather boots? The rabb is skinnier but the objective is more downhill oriented with possibly better torsional rigidity? To add to my previous comment... I skied the Objectives with the Ski March and they were lots of fun on...

Between the two skis, which one would be better for skiing on firm snow in leather boots? The rabb is skinnier but the objective is more downhill oriented with possibly better torsional rigidity? For what it's worth I skied the Rabb with a leather boot on different snow conditions twice in a resort...

Re: Asnes Quiver addition advice sought
After reading about the race this guy from Cali entered it would appear that the Alaska 75 is not ideal, but I typically ski for two to three hours at a time. When I look at Varutse the XP Alaska and binding isn’t that much more than NNN-BC. I wonder if that would be a route to consider vs a new Cr...
