I'm late to this ...
My opinion (could be wrong), buy the Bishop binding, instead of the ski.
The Bishop will make any ski sing.
I ski both BMF/3 and the BMF/R and haven't regretted a day on either.
It's the binding.
Save your old gear, if you have an urge to go uphill.

In hindsight, over the years I may have botched the bottom of my skis, concerning structure. Kinda disappointing that this may be self-inflicted. I've used a block sander trying to repair/dress up the ski base bottoms,' from the nicks and scratches caused by daily use and likely sanded away whatever...

Thanks. The link and comments were a nice read. I'll certainly consider adding Phantom to the next set of skis I buy if offered at purchase. I have the 2018 Rossignol Experience HD 88 with a 75mm (Bishop) set up. Ditto. Very good as a Telemark ski.
