Re: Making 3d printed parts
I 3D home-print my own heelpads, ABS at 60% infill, coated with epoxy "appliance" paint. Never had one fail. I have home-printed other parts with a little more structural responsibility at 100% infill, but just for proof of concept testing, only needing to last a day or two. Once I'm satisfied with ...

These are both on my tinkering to-do list for this winter. Let's see how hard the platform can be pushed.turnfarmer wrote: ↑Mon Nov 20, 2023 9:42 amAdd easily transition from flexor to free pivot with a simple switch like a Voile switchback.

Re: Telemark Spring Constants
Ask the nerds over at backcountrytalk.com. Any value is calculable from any other value, but I think we've usually talked about things in terms of spring rate. I've found that something in the range of 100-150 lb/in is a good starting place when designing a binding. You can spend all day scouring th...

Re: $300-a-day lift ticket?
Simple supply and demand. My Mon-Fri season pass at my home resort (Arizona Snowbowl) cost me $199. A day ticket bought last-minute for a high season Saturday will cost over $300.

Re: What Boot Is This?
These are the first generation T-Race, with the very not-ergonomic bellows. They might work for some people -- Craig Gordon from UT Avy, for example -- but a lot of people (myself included) lost toenails in them. For subsequent generations, Scarpa changed the geometry of the bellows to flex in a way...

Re: The difference between an F1, a F3, and an F1 Race by a Beginner to the Game
Listen to everything @jtb says. Indeed, the F1 Race is not just an F1 without the tongue. It also has thinner Pebax which gives it a softer feel. Some people, myself included, think the F1 is too stiff for telemark and the F1 Race is just right. The F1 Race is a bit lighter but also a bit less durab...

Re: Mount an NNN-BC binding on a AT ski?
As others have said, It's all about conditions. Soft snow that's not steep or deep, you might be fine. But it will be an arduous learning process. Find some cheap used T2/T4/Veloce boots and 3-pin bindings, and develop a solid technique. Then if you're still inclined, work backwards to apply the tec...

Re: The difference between an F1, a F3, and an F1 Race by a Beginner to the Game
I've been (slowly) working on a thourough explainer of the F1 & F3, though it's not ready for prime time. Until then, here is a list of weights and cuff heights for a bunch of Scarpa tele(-ish) boots that I own. TX Pro: 1910g 12.6" TX: 1779g 12.6" T2X: 1600g 11.4" T2: 1629g 10.4" ('98-'99 iridescent...
